For the Safety of Everyone

At construction sites, safety is paramount—and with a MIKEY defibrillator on-site, everyone gains a powerful tool that can increase a person’s chance of survival by up to 50%.

Hundreds of lives are saved each year through public access defibrillation, and the change is happening— we’re committed to seeing those numbers grow even higher.

Mandating Defibrillators

The Residential Construction Council of Ontario, Herity, Heathwood and The Mikey Network commend the Ontario government for moving to make Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), also known as Mikeys, mandatory on construction sites that are in operation three months or longer with 20 or more workers. The life-saving measure was announced in a new Working for Workers bill that was announced today by Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development Minister David Piccini. In addition, a reimbursement program through the WSIB was announced to cover the costs. “Health and safety are everyone’s responsibility and requiring Mikeys (AEDs) on sites across the province will ensure there is a powerful tool available to save lives in the event of a cardiac emergency,” says RESCON VP Andrew Pariser.

Mikey On Site

The Mikey Network is proud to be part of the change that makes AEDs mandatory on Ontario construction sites—and to help ensure everyone has access to a MIKEY defibrillator when it matters most.

The Ontario government has announced that Mikey AEDs will now be mandatory on construction sites with 20 or more workers operating for over three months—a groundbreaking step toward saving lives. The Mikey Network, has long championed this change, and we’re proud to see it become law through the Working for Workers bill. With WSIB covering the cost, this initiative ensures that life-saving defibrillators are on hand when seconds matter most.

This decision is a monumental milestone in our mission to place Mikey AEDs wherever they’re needed most.
